Pear pyrus '20th Century' (Asian)
- Fruit is yellow skinned, crisp, with a juicy butterscotch-like flavor
- Pear trees can reach a height of 25 feet or more and grow in any fertile, well-drained soil, in full sun.
- It should never be allowed to ripen on the tree. The ripening process is completed in storage where the pears will ripen more evenly.
- Fireblight is the most serious of pear diseases. Caterpillars, leaf roller, blister mites, aphids, scale insects, dieback, powdery mildew and scab can also be a problem.
